EKSU Commissions TETFund ICT Centre, Commends Tinubu’s Education Reforms

Ekiti State University on Friday commissioned a TETFund-sponsored Information and Communication Technology Experience Centre aimed at enhancing digital learning and innovation within the institution.

Speaking at the event, the Chancellor of the university, Dr. Tunji Olowolafe, described the facility as the fulfilment of a 45-year-old dream and a major step towards equipping students with digital skills needed in the modern economy.

The ceremony was attended by the first lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, the wife of the Vice President, Hajiya Nana Shettima, Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji, Senate Majority leader Opeyemi Bamidele, the Executive Secretary of TETFund and other dignitaries.

Olowolafe said the centre would serve as a hub for digital literacy, innovation and practical learning, noting that its completion reflected the federal government’s commitment to educational development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also highlighted key education initiatives of the Tinubu administration, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), increased budgetary allocation to education and the establishment of specialised federal universities.

The Chancellor commended Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her support for education through the Renewed Hope Initiative and praised TETFund for its continued investment in tertiary institutions across the country.

He urged students to make effective use of the facility, describing it as a gateway to opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven world.

The ICT Experience Centre is expected to boost digital learning, research and technological capacity development at the university.
